I'm back in the saddle again.....At least at home. Back to the work grind, rush, rush taking care
of the sick and feeble, working up a sweat to accomplish all I must in 12 long hours, yet still not
enough time to do care for the sick and document it all.
The two weeks in Texas was not enough. It was so sweet. The weather was great most of the time
except for an occassional hail and thunderstorm. Easter sunday was particularly dark and brooding
in the morning with jaw breaker size hail balls. But all in all, I got my fill of the wildflowers
of the noted hill country and that will have to last until another spring.
I made it to Luckenbach while the general store, postoffice, saloon, all in one, was open. My souvenir
was some pictures I took with the digital camera, and a silk scarf I bought that has cowboys, steers,
and Luckenbach on it, a few picks to use on my dulcimer (I bought in Fredericksberg in 1993, not much used but all the intentions are still there.) I found out my Martin guitar that belonged to nephew Tom
might be worth several thousand dollars!! I have a neat picture of the local cock rooster, quite a
strutter who evidently killed off two other cocks and a hen or two in the melee the night before.
That's not a very peaceful rooster....
I ate well,--home cooked by Margaret, yummy shrimp from the gulf, and in Fredericksberg at
Bella Pasta, some great lightly breaded fried catfish in a dill sauce over linguini. The Dos Equis helped
digestion.
I tried to ignore most of the bad news on TV about people ambushed, killed and burned and desecrated,
if that's how you spell sick, evil-mindedness. I guess it will take a civil war in Iraq to get it back to
some sense of normal, after US pulls out, leaving a mess behind. I like the slogan for Texas--
Don't Mess With Texas. Guess G.W. forgot how it feels, or how Iraqis' might wish it for their land.
I highly recommend ya'all get to the Hill Country. Even though G.W. does have a Place there, you
can sense the peacefulness of it.
